About the Workshop
Instructor: Join local artist Karin Butler, who brings more than 30 years of metalsmithing experience and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Karin creates beautiful handmade jewelry through her business, Royal Andersen, and loves sharing her skills with others.
Description:
Turn a flat piece of copper into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind cuff bracelet! In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to use a jeweler's saw to prepare your copper, create and etch your own design, and explore metal texturing techniques.
Karin will also introduce you to annealing, safe torch use, filing, sanding, and polishing before guiding you through shaping your bracelet on a bracelet mandrel. You'll also learn about patina options that will be explored in a future class.
By the end of the workshop, you'll take home a handcrafted copper cuff bracelet and new metalsmithing skills!
